3 ways to treat your mum in the Gold Coast this Mother’s Day

Mother's Day is right around the corner! Falling on Sunday, May 13 this year, Mother's Day is your chance to show your mum, or any maternal figure in your life, just how much you care. There are plenty of uniquely "Gold Coast" ways to celebrate this special day that will suit any mum from the fitness-inspired to the food-focussed.

The Mother's Day Classic

If your mum's the active type, why not encourage her back on her feet this Mother's Day for some family fitness?

The Mother's Day Classic is an annual fun run raising money and awareness for breast cancer research. Each year, it delivers a healthy, fun and inspirational event that really celebrates the community feel of our beautiful city. In 2018, get mum involved!

Participants are encouraged establish teams to run together, so everyone has their own support group to keep them going for the 4-8 km journey. You can even choose the distance you'll go as well as whether you'll be walking or running, meaning the whole family can get involved regardless of fitness levels.

If your mum can't be active for whatever reason, this could also be a real opportunity to make her proud by running in her honour.

High Tea at Four Winds 360

The revolving restaurant atop Crowne Plaza is a must-try experience. Not only will you enjoy unbelievably good food, but the restaurant slowly rotates, offering you 360 degree views of the Gold Coast's incredible scenery.

High tea at Four Winds is available at a modest price of only $35 per person for a selection of pastries, sweets & gourmet sandwiches with one hot beverage per person. There's also the option to upgrade your hot drink to a flute of bubbly for only an extra $4.

Available 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, this is perfect even if you can't find the time on the day itself. 

Hot Air Balloon Rides

If you're really trying to blow mum away this year, buy her a flight on a hot air balloon over the Gold Coast. Balloon operators Hot Air Balloon Gold Coast are offering a special Mother's Day extended ride for $330 per adult.

Along with 60 minutes of airborne bliss, you and your mum will get to enjoy a Champagne breakfast at O'Reilleys Vineyard, followed by a wine tasting session. Coach transfers are provided to help you get to and from the launching location, and vouchers last up to 12 months in case your mum is busy on the 13th.
