Surfers Paradise is set to host the Navy Surf Rowers National Premiership on November 9 and 10 where elite crews from around the country will compete for the top title.
Residents of Surfers Paradise property can come down to watch the teams race. Traditional surf boats have a crew of four plus a 'sweep' whose job is to steer the boat.
Although these boats are no longer to perform rescues in the sea, as they have been replaced by inflatable boats, they are still a feature of surf lifesaving competitions.
There will be more to enjoy during the competition than surf boat action, however, the event will also feature Navy helicopters flying over the beach as well as beach rescue displays.
Those who decide to come down to Eileen Peters Park after 9 a.m. from their real estate in Surfers Paradise will be able to see the famous shotgun start.
This racing format sees 35 boats hitting the water at the same time, which is a sight to behold. The 'expression session' is also a not-to-be-missed race.
