Keep your home in great shape during summer

By Andrew Bell

As seasons change, so does the way the weather impacts your home. Since summer has arrived, you are no doubt ready for the hot sun and soaring temperatures that will impact you and your family’s daily habits — but is the same true of your property?

We have a few suggestions to help you keep your home and backyard looking and feeling its best throughout the summer and beyond:

Make sure your air conditioner is up to the task

When temperatures rise, your home needs to be a haven from the heat — and that’s where your air conditioner comes in. But according to Home Sales, if you haven’t properly maintained it, that A/C unit may not be up to the task this summer. It might be time to swap out the air filter or have a professional look over the whole system, to make sure it’s ready to withstand the work you’ll need it to do over the next few months.

Start paying more attention to the plants

When it comes to your outdoor plants, hot weather and potentially months without rain combine to do a number on them. As such, you would be wise to make sure they are properly tended to, watered when needed and otherwise have all their needs met, so that they can withstand the potentially punishing conditions.

Wash the windows

While this may seem like more of a “spring cleaning” task, it’s also important during the summer. Porch.com stated that window-washing is a good idea mostly for aesthetic reasons; Summer is a time when more light is streaming through the windows, and any smudges, finger prints or other marks are more visible and can be distracting.

Clean the barbie

Finally, if you are the type of family that likes to enjoy some burgers, sausages and veggies grilled on the barbeque, now is the time to really go to work cleaning that grill. Using a wire brush, you should scrape the grating clean of any charring or other leftover buildup while you keep using your barbie during the ongoing summer months.

If you’re thinking of buying or selling a home this summer, it’s important to have the experts by your side every step of the way. At Ray White Surfers Paradise, we can give you the guidance you need from either side of the transaction. Get in touch with us today to learn more about how we can help.
