Having a say with regards to decisions being made in your local council area is an important part of transparent, open community. If you're a resident of Surfers Paradise property, the council recently announced submissions for the 2015 City Draft Plan are now open – giving everyone in the region a say until 29 July 2014.
Mayor Tom Tate said driving more economic growth, creating more local jobs and enhancing the lifestyle associated with the Gold Coast were some of the most important factors for the council to focus in the new draft plan.
"Over the next 20 years our population is forecast to grow by about 320,000. The right decisions today will help deliver the 150,000 additional jobs and 130,000 homes we will need to prosper and thrive," said Mr Tate in a 17 June statement.
"We've cut red tape and included new land use provisions, such as zones and codes, to strengthen and diversify the economy and manage development and change."
If you have any thoughts or ideas about existing or future developments, now is your opportunity to get in touch with your local council and instigate change within your community.
