Gold Coast Botanic Gardens Celebrates Ten-Year Planting Anniversary

By Andrew Bell

Those living in a Surfers Paradise property will be able to enjoy an event hosted by the City of Gold Coast at the Botanic Gardens, as the Gardens celebrate its ten-year anniversary of the first Community Planting Day.

The anniversary event will be held on National Tree Day Sunday on July 28, which will also coincide with a tree planting to commemorate those who were killed in the Afghan war.

In order to preserve the memory of the soldiers that were killed, there will be 40 trees planted in the garden, which will stand as a living tribute.

To celebrate the Community Planting Day anniversary there will be a festival with an official launch, displays, stalls, demonstrations, workshops and talks, as well as live jazz music.

"If you haven't been to the Gardens for a while, make sure you come along for the tenth anniversary event. Over the past decade the local community have added 30,000 plants, and it has become not only an important regional Botanic Garden, but also one of the most beautiful attractions on the Gold Coast," said divisional councillor Paul Taylor.

The Botanic Gardens is just one of the many beautiful outdoor areas and open spaces that are provided for residents of Gold Coast and Main Beach real estate to enjoy.
