As anyone with young children will know, it can be very useful to have child-friendly facilities located near your home, especially when the school holidays come around!
Families who own or rent real estate in Surfers Paradise might be pleased to hear that the popular Rockpools have now been officially reopened at Southport's Broadwater Parklands, after a bit of a renovation of the wet play zone.
The Rockpools water playground is the first of its kind to be located on the Gold Coast and features a variety of different pool areas, creek beds and waterfalls.
The pools have undergone some important refurbishments to ensure they are a safer and better play area for kids – including re-sealing the wet area and renewing some of the existing water play features.
In addition to these measures, the current turf at the Rockpools has been replaced with a synthetic version for select "high-use" areas.
The area is very popular with families who are sure to appreciate its winter 'facelift', according to Division 6 councillor Dawn Crichlow.
"The new addition, of course, is the synthetic turf. This is something that we are trying out in high use areas instead of continually replacing turf," Ms Crichlow said in a June 7 statement.
"I am confident it will work well in this area that is so popular with the kids."
