Broadwater Festival Celebrates Spring

By Andrew Bell

Those interested in real estate in Surfers Paradise might be keen to know that the Gold Coast Council has a range of family-oriented activities planned to herald in the start of a new season.

The "Bring on Spring" festival is in its fourth year and provides plenty of free entertainment for the kids, with a free event every weekend over the next five weeks.

It starts off with a dance and circus party on September 1 at the Broadwater Parklands.

Locals can pop down to the Great Lawn and take in a hula-hooping workshop, give plate-spinning a whirl or cuddle a baby farmyard animal.

The Flourish Arts Festival on September 28 could be another good day out for the kids. It is a community event featuring art displays, musical performances and an arts and crafts market.

Resident film buffs are in for a treat with a showing of the box-office classic "Grease" on the big screen on September 21. The trip down memory lane will be complete with a visit to the Rock 'n' Roll Milk Bar and classic car displays.

The festival will also celebrate the launch of a new market, Produce by the Pier. This Saturday market near Southport and Main Beach real estate will promote fresh local seafood, fruit and veggies, and provide plenty of fun activities for the kids.
