Brand New Sports Park for Ormeau Officially Opens

By Andrew Bell

In what could be good news for those sports-obsessed Surfers Paradise property owners out there, the Gold Coast City Council will officially open a new sports park this weekend (August 3).

The Ormeau Sports Park is a $5.3 million project that was constructed in order to improve the facilities available to residents in the area.

Offering two full-size senior AFL fields, the new sports park will benefit many community sports teams and locals who wish to practice football, rugby, or any other field activities.

The opening of the park comes after the City of Gold Coast introduced a number of other community infrastructure developments for residents of real estate in Surfers Paradise to utilise, including a new library and cultural centre in Helensvale.

"It makes sense to plan and deliver amenities for residents to support our growing residential communities. Ensuring that current and future needs are taken into consideration is essential for enhancing strong, active and engaged communities," said Gold Coast deputy mayor Donna Gates.

The official opening ceremony will take place on Saturday August 3 at 08:30 and will feature a number of activities to celebrate.

Bring the family down for the day, and don't forget to take a ball to kick around and test out the new fields!
