Whilst official figures are not available yet, every measure says that it is a record number of visitors here with us at present and accommodation providers, restaurants and retailers are all saying there is incredible confidence and people are spending, spending, spending. Great for our economy.

1. A lot of local owner-occupiers seizing their holiday break to get out and find their new home for 2017.
2. An incredible number of interstaters, particularly from Melbourne and to a lesser degree Sydney, who are either buying because they intend to move here shortly or in particular selling their homes interstate for $1 – 3 million or more and buying something on the Gold Coast for $800,000 plus and putting the rest into income producing investments. We also have a surge in purchasers of holiday apartments and homes.
3. A broad spectrum of expats and overseas investors buying here on the Gold Coast.

People are brimming with confidence about the Gold Coast. It has never looked better. The $14 billion worth of government and institutional infrastructure spend has been a huge injection to the economy and has provided assets such as the new hospital, the light rail and so on which has contributed to a much more vibrant city. Many additional billions of dollars in private development investment is also pumping huge amounts of money into our local economy. Of course, the Commonwealth Games in April 2018 is a recognised factor in the city having such a bright future.
