The bustling hub of Southport is set to become the heart of the Gold Coast's CBD in a plan announced by the Queensland government.
Southport has been declared a priority development area in order for development plans for the region to get underway.
Residents of Surfers Paradise property can expect to benefit from new lifestyle opportunities when the project kicks off and there will also be an increase in economic and infrastructure developments.
The plan allows the CBD of Southport to introduce new ideas and "cut red tape," according to Mayor Tom Tate.
"We want to create a vibrant and dynamic CBD that offers more jobs, better services and a great urban lifestyle," he said.
The proposed development will mean Southport will return to its roots as the Gold Coast's CBD.
There are plenty of reasons to consider investing in Main beach real estate – Chinatown is being developed, new trams are close to being unveiled and the Commonwealth Games are not far off.
