School Holiday Fun in Surfers

Parents with real estate in Surfers Paradise don't need to stress about keeping their kids out of trouble during the first weekend of the school holidays.

The annual 'fun in the sun' weekend is, as always, chocka with fun, free things for the kids to do.

Any youngster who dreams of being a firefighter when he or she grows up will be excited to come down to the Surfers Paradise foreshore and take a peek inside a real fire truck.

There are also a number of games and rides for young and old. Workshops are available too – why not try cake decorating, mini-golfing or rock climbing?

To really get in the holiday spirit, boys and girls can get their faces painted.

The Bricks'n'Fun lego display is worth a look for the themed displays. You can see lego from Star Wars, a working train and a Heartlake Diorama.

Kids should get a kick out of seeing cartoon characters like Spongebob Squarepants and Ronald McDonald in real life. There will be some on-stage music and entertainment and kids can volunteer to be a stage assistant for the Nickelodeon Slime Time show.

To round out Saturday's entertainment, families can watch a big-screen showing of the Avengers complete with a fireworks display.

Anyone planning to pop across from their Southport or Main Beach real estate should note that prams are not allowed in the main stage pavilion but can be stored at the Surfers Beach Foreshore down by Hanlan Street.
