Scene Set For Bumper Event
Ray White Surfers Paradise is gearing up to stage Australia’s highest profile property promotion, The Event, on the Gold Coast in January.
Registrations are open for The Event 2015 which will be held on Sunday, January 25 at the Gold Coast Turf Club.
For its 22nd year, The Event will be held at the Turf Club’s new Exhibition Centre which has approximately five times more space than the current auction room.
RWSP CEO and chief auctioneer Andrew Bell says early signs point to January’s showcase being one of the most successful in The Event’s history.
He said the new, larger auction room would cater for growth in the number of attendees, with upwards of 1000 bidders and spectators turning up each year.
“It’s early days but if market trends over the course of this year are anything to go by, January’s auctions will yield very positive results for sellers,” he said.
“We’re at a point in the market where both buyers and sellers are benefiting – pricing has strengthened but we’re still affordable next to Sydney, Melbourne and even Brisbane.”
Mr Bell said The Event’s timing in January deliberately capitalised on the influx of tourists to the city over the summer break.
“Nearly half the deals done by our office in the September quarter were to interstate or overseas buyers,” he said.
“That tells us we cannot underestimate the power of non-local markets.
“That’s why we stage The Event in January – traditionally locals have some free time to get out and look at real estate, and interstate and overseas investors are here for the holiday season.
“The Event will capture the huge amount of visitors we’re expecting to hit our shores over Summer.”
The Event 2015 will involve all sectors of residential, prestige and commercial properties from across the Gold Coast in addition to a collection of luxury vessels listed with the group’s Ray White Marine division.
In 2014, well in excess of $20 million worth of property was sold on the day, with more deals closed post-auction.
More than a billion dollars in sales has been achieved from The Event since the concept was pioneered by Andrew and Greg Bell in 1993.
The Event 2015 will be held on January 25, with residential and marine auctions and the presentation of Andrew Bell’s annual property report at the Gold Coast Turf Club.
